In contrast to the factory diverter valve, the DV+ operates by opening and closing based on both the ECU command and the boost pressure present in the intercooler. When the ECU activates the solenoid, the DV+ piston will only open to the extent that the boost pressure in the intercooler can push it against the spring. Conversely, the factory diverter will open without consideration for the boost pressure. This leads to improved throttle response, rapid valve actuation, and the ability to maintain as much boost as you can provide.
